If you have children you’ll appreciate this, if not bear with me. For the last three nights my son has woken up around 2 am wailing, and he calms down immediately if either my wife or I go into the room. At the slightest creak or whisper when we stand up to leave, he anxiously says “mama?” or “papa?” So the last two nights I’ve curled up in the armchair in his room and slept. You really can’t imagine exhaustion until you have kids – but at the same time you can’t imagine how, in a way, you could care less. Knowing someone is so deeply attached to me that he sleeps better and feels safer and calmer simply because I’m nearby is an amazing feeling.
- 40 Acres And A Mule – Free Land Still Available In The United States: You’ve probably heard about the “free land out west” before, but every time I read about it I have a ten second “what if” moment. Then I snap back to my senses and remember that you always get what you pay for. (@ The Happy Rock)
- I’m Bored. I’ll Go Shopping.: I think everyone suffers from this syndrome. Shopping is, unfortunately, fun. You get neat new stuff – what’s not to like. Everyone needs a tip or two to help fight this urge. For me, calculating my hourly wages then figuring out how many minutes of my life everything cost me is pretty effective… (@ Grad Money Matters)
- Yesterday I Resigned. Will I Ever “Work” Again?: Lazy Man abruptly resigned from his job, and this is a pretty heartfelt post about how he didn’t do it willingly and certainly wasn’t happy about it. I think it’s a good thing to consider for all of us. You may imagine that everything in your life will just trundle along just like it is today forever, but abrupt right turns can happen. Be prepared mentally and have the right attitude and most importantly, stay positive and things will have a tendency to work out. Here’s hoping everything works out for him. (@ Lazy Man and Money)
Today’s article from the Brip Blap archives: the space between. If your family doesn’t live nearby, you’ll appreciate where I’m coming from with this post.
