• Thanks everyone for the good wishes! We're all back home from the hospital and we're doing well, although I've had the flu the last few days (talk about great timing, and thank goodness for parents)! We're trying to settle in to our new, more complicated routine, but otherwise everything is going well. I had forgotten how much newborns sleep, but I had also forgotten how much they want to eat...
  • Congrats, Steve! :)
  • May I suggest the blog name of "munchkin?" LOL!
That's what we called our first child before she was born. The second one and the third all had names relatively early.

    Congratulations!
  • I don't want to be cliche so I won't be

I DO NOT CONGRATULATE YOU AT ALL.
    NOT ONE BIT.
    NADDA.
    YOU GOT NOTHIN ON ME.

P.S Congratulations man, name her after me (No one names their babies after me it's SO messed up)
  • Congratulations! You'll be fine. You found out the first time around that the 2nd brick (as well as the first, of course) is survivable -- you did it!

Speaking from experience (my wife and I have two boys, one 2 1/2 year old, the other is 7 months old), the second baby is easier. That's the good news.

The bad news is, the first one becomes more difficult! When my wife was pregnant with our youngest boy, a friend with two small children of his own, calmly told me,

"It's not twice as hard. It's more like 4 times!"

I will never forget that! You won't either.

Best of luck to you and the family.
  • Congratulations.

We say that when a child is born, the heavens opens a little door and pours some extra goodies on the parents.

Mrs. BB, you and LB are going to enjoy some great times!

    All the very best.
  • Yay! :) I love the idea of giving your son a baby girl doll to help him understand the idea. It's not like the real thing, but it's brilliant, nonetheless.

One thing I heard the take-home teaching nurse recommend recently is incorporating nursing the baby and reading to the toddler at the same time. LB can turn pages for her, so he feels useful. I don't know how much he likes being read to, but I thought it was a cool idea.
  • This is great news. How about "Little Princess" for a nickname?

Having not had that brick fall on my head yet, I wonder if the second brick will be as bad as the first. Sounds like the experience from the first brick makes the second one kind of a Nerf-brick.

    Congratulations, BB.
Oh Mike! Our little angel is a month old and I am still reeling from the last brick. But I wouldn't change it for the world. And neither would Mike.
  • Congrats. Make sure you keep little buddy in daycare otherwise your life will be a living hell (I know!).

    Mike
  • Congratulations!!! Hope for the best of health to your new family member!!
  • Congratulations! I'm sure you'll be very happy when tax time rolls around again. Oh, and congratulations on the baby too!
  • FFB
    Best of health to all!

Congratulations, Steve. We knew this was coming, but this post puts this most important event front and center. How about Little Angel? Or Daddy's Angel?

Congratulations, Steve! Very glad to see there'll be more women around your house to civilize you boys.
  • Congratulations and best of luck.

Not on the same plane, but we got a puppy last Saturday and have been up in the middle of the night, too. Again not saying its the same, but it's a glimpse of what you'll be doing through.
