If you’ve never had a sick child, you have no idea what a busy day is. I’ve spent most of today dealing with poop and vomit and brutal fevers and ice baths and whatnot, which is something I could never have imagined 5 years ago in my carefree swinging single days in Manhattan. The last couple of days have been a veritable haze of driving to the doctors’, picking up prescriptions and waking up multiple times per night. Good thing I’m a consultant who can just punt on my work when I need to… Odd how life moves you along, and even odder how - despite the unpleasantness of it all - it just seems like it’s 100% what you were supposed to be doing on that day. It’s actually quite a relief when you feel this way. When you are greeted early (early!) in the morning with cries of “Papa!” it’s all in perspective. I often thought this sentiment was trite and overused when single (and I still do, sometimes). Yet it is a powerful feeling. There’s your Hallmark (TM) moment for the day. Now give me $3.99.
Because of my son’s illness I’m a bit behind on my reading, but I did come up with a few good links for this weekend.
Iowahippiechick: Do You Believe? I Do…
- As someone who’s come around fairly lately to the idea that simply staying positive is a strong force in making your life better, I think that it’s always nice to read someone’s similar thoughts.
Celebrities and Money: Sarah Michelle Gellar
- I was always a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its star, Sarah Michelle Gellar, both for the quality of the show and the qualities of the leading lady herself. Lazy Man has an interesting piece where it’s revealed that not only is she admirable for her high-quality work in opposition to the Hellmouth, but also her good personal finance habits. Nifty combo, eh?
The Science Of Getting Rich | Hunter Nuttall . com
- Hunter has a link to a great free resource - The Science of Getting Rich. It’s a 1910 e-book (obviously when originally published it was not an e-book…). I highly recommend reading it. I’m debating whether to have it beat out Think and Grow Rich as my favorite ‘wealth’ book. Did I say I highly recommend it? It’s free, it’s good, what’s the problem? It’s already working for me.
Free Money Finance: Should Unhealthy People Pay More for Medical Insurance?
- I have a few strong thoughts on this subject, but read FMF’s thoughts on this and decide for yourself…
