second big book giveaway!

OK, once again, a big book giveaway. This time it’s David Bach’s Smart Couples Finish Rich. It’s an excellent book for anyone just married, or in a relationship, or even thinking about being in a relationship – in short, good for anyone not planning on being a lifelong bachelor/bachelorette. It’s a great primer on the key steps to financial stability, and that’s the key – it’s setting you in the right direction, not towards being fabulously wealthy. I enjoyed the book when Bubelah and I got married but we’ve absorbed most of the points and we’re on to quantum finance and derivatives now…

  • I would probably vote for "Your Money or Your Life." I think it would depend on what topic you really want - debt reduction, investing, saving, etc. But YMOYL is an excellent, excellent book that most pf bloggers would agree is a top 5er. I think Trent at The Simple Dollar said that was the book that kicked it off for him.

  • I read this book a few years ago.

    The book is pretty decent for a basic understanding of personal finance and investing. It lacks detail and refinement in several areas, and reminds me too much of the Dr. Phil 'comon sense' approach that Bach is famous for. He is a pretty good marketer, I'll give him that...

  • Mike - so you did - should've run through my bookmarks first! Great minds run in the same channels, eh? Well, it works out well for me since you're cross-promoting the book I'm giving away, then. It is a good book, and short of maybe three other books it's one of the best books on personal financial planning I've read.
  • I haven't read the book yet, but I am still working through "Your Money or Your Life". I think this giveaway is a great idea, and good luck to the winner.

    I just read the book about a month ago and I would say that it is very good.

    I'll excuse myself from the competition since I'd rather the book go to someone who hasn't read it yet.
