carnivals and linklings for October 13, 2007
If this is your first visit to brip blap, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed and visit my about page.

Here are another couple of carnivals for the week, a random picture, and a few links. I really enjoy branching out a bit - there are a lot of good blogs out there and you really get something out of reading the carnivals.
At The 20th edition of the Carnival of Life, Happiness and Meaning my post on stopping negative thoughts was included. My pick from that carnival: Tupelo Kenyon’s Choose the Companionship of Positive People Who Inspire You. Anyone who quotes Emerson is OK in my book.
The same post of mine was also featured at the Personal Stories of Change Blog Carnival: Edition 8 and my pick from that carnival is Tristan’s Arland Dean Williams Jr: The Ultimate Act of Unconditional Love. Amazing.
And a few links from around the webiverse:
Inspiration is everywhere if you decide to let it touch you from Rain City Guide gets a nod in particular because it references Paul Potts. I think Paul’s an inspirational story, too.
Daily Cents has Why Changing Jobs is Good for Your Career. I hope it’s true, at least - I’ve changed jobs frequently over my career although less frequently lately. Since I’m a consultant now I keep the same overall “job” while switching clients - so it’s almost like changing a job!
And over at I’ve Paid for that Twice Already there’s Temptation is all around me. I thought about this for a while and realized that temptation is always going to be there for some people (and by some people I mean me and everyone else). The real trick is trying to understand whether the temptation is going to serve a purpose in your life or not. Buying a 19″ monitor when your barely functioning 19″ is flickering and giving you a headache WOULD be a good purpose, but buying a 19″ flat panel monitor when you have a functioning 19″ CRT is not a good purpose - but it doesn’t mean you accept that. The minor distinctions are so critical when facing temptations… something that is not admitted as often as it should be in the PF blogoverse. This is the kind of writing you need to seek out - heartfelt and honest. Good stuff.
